Abbey was first introduced to yoga when she was a sophomore in high school. She stumbled upon it at her local gym and actually had no idea what she was getting herself into. From day one, she was hooked. She had scoliosis as a child and had run competitively since middle school. Therefore, “aches and pains” were part of her daily life. Yoga changed this forever. The physical asana brought her back and the inner, cellular practice had her hooked. Abbey continued practicing in college and was known as the “yoga girl” because she did one primary series EVERY night in the study lounge of her dorm. She eventually went through her first training in Dallas and started teaching at a gym in Sherman, Texas where she attended school. From there, Abbey moved to Australia and went through a 200 hour training at The Byron Bay School of Yoga. Since returning to the U.S., she has taught kids yoga, Ashtanga, and Vinyassa flow. “I love yoga and the effects it has on my physical, emotional, spiritual, cellular being. It is a nurturing place I go there with no expectations and I ALWAYS feel great when I’m done. Yoga has taught me the value of compassion and love for myself. I love leading others through this practice and hope that my students are able to gain the same nurturing component. I love to incorporate both the yin and yang – A strong flow with a calm end are always part of my teaching.” -Abbey, yoga instructor.
